De-icing Solutions

Although salt products are still widely used, it is acknowledged that prolonged use of salt is likely to be harmful to vegetation and corrosive to metal, resulting in an increasing amount of environmental legislation being introduced worldwide to restrict the use of lower performance de-icing products.

The major advantage of our de-icing products, IceMelt™ and calcium chloride pellets, is that they give off heat as they dissolve, melting more ice faster at lower temperatures.  Our products penetrate ice quicker than medium strength flakes or granules due to their shape and density, and better meet environmental concerns because significantly smaller quantities are required to achieve the same result.

IceMelt™  is our specially designed and patented high performance de-icing agent which also contains a corrosion inhibitor, making it particularly suited to use in municipal, commercial and retail applications.

To date one of our primary users in the municipal market has been the Moscow City Council where we have won the invited tender to supply high performance de-icers for six consecutive years. In Russia the municipal authorities of large metropolitan areas are under increasing pressure to improve public transportation including the state and maintenance of roads and pavements. As a result they are seeking more effective de-icing products reducing the number of patrols required to clean the roads in winter.

In Central and Western Europe there is ever increasing legislation to remove environmentally unfriendly products from de-icing applications and seeking more efficient alternatives.
